Why Use the Better Hearing Plan?

Nearly 1 in 6 Americans have some sort of hearing loss.

  • 1/3 of these are less than 45 years of age.
  • 1/3 of these have been affected, in part, by noise.
  • Successful treatment of hearing loss with hearing instruments is associated with greater earning power.

Approximately 14.9% of US children have hearing loss in one or both ears.

By age 65, more than 1/3 of the US population develops a hearing loss serious enough to interfere with daily communication.

It is recommended that at age 45 everyone should have a baseline hearing test as part of a complete annual health exam.

The estimated cost in lost earnings due to untreated hearing loss is $122 billion annually. At a 15% tax bracket, the cost to businesses could be well in excess of $18 billion due to unrealized returns to the company.

The Friends & Family Better Hearing Plan was developed to provide affordable access to hearing services. Use of this program ensures that you and those you care about are receiving the best services for prevention and treatment of hearing loss.
